Welcome to miRVIT!... a novel miRNA database

Why?

MicroRNAs (miRNA) act as master regulators of plant developmental processes and defence responses to environmental stresses. Recently, an increasing number of works concerning the analysis of novel miRNAs of grapevine (Vitis spp.) were published. However, the lack of uniformity in the classification of novel miRNAs within the high quantity of available highly limits their study in grapevine.

What’s?

miRVIT is the first database of all novel grapevine miRNA candidates identified so far, and still not deposited in miRBase. To generate miRVIT, each miRNA accession was renamed, repositioned in the last version of the grapevine genome and compared with all the available data on novel and conserved miRNAs detected in grapevine. A new classification was thus produced and univocal denominations were assigned to each novel miRNA.

What’s on?

novel miRNA annotation
predicted target genes of novel miRNAs
validated target genes of novel miRNAs
references to grapevine miRNA and target identification

Who?

miRVIT was created in 2018 by a group of researchers from the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of the National Research Council (IPSP-CNR) of Italy.
